Q. How long having you being gardening for?
A. Until we bought a house in April 2007, neither of us were interested in gardening. Shortly after moving in we planted our first native grevillea and haven’t looked back since.
Q. Who influences your gardening?
A. We are huge fans of Peter Cundall, and Gardening Australia is just not the same without him. We also practice some permaculture methods as developed by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren. Of course, we first and foremost use organic methods – who wouldn’t after reading Silent Spring
by Rachel Carson? Clive Blazey of Diggers fame encouraged us to try heirloom varieties. Lastly, Jerry Coleby-Williams inspired us think about the big picture and to save up for a solar power and grey water systems.
Q. Who influences your cooking?
A. This is a tough question, as we love trying new recipes and different cuisines. When we lived in the UK, Big M spent rainy Saturday mornings mesmerised by the cooking shows on BBC. Our dishes focus on his love of traditional British cooking and my love of mediterranean cooking.
Q. What type of camera do you use?
A. Our damn fine camera is a Canon digital S.L.R. (EOS 400D).
Q. How do you take your photos?
A. We are still learning, but we’ve found using a tripod and a gray card have helped enormously. For taking photos inside, we set up two clip-on lights to the sides of a coffee table, and use a large piece of white cardboard for the backdrop. We sometimes do minor touch ups in Photoshop.
